Prime Healthcare Services, Inc. has been identified by Thomson Reuters Research as a Top 10 U.S. Health Systems
Redding, CA…. Shasta Regional Medical Center’s parent company, Prime Healthcare Services, Inc. has been indentified as one of the top 10 U.S. health systems based on clinical performance released today by Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals® program.
Researchers from the Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospital® program analyzed the quality and efficiency of the 252 health systems around the county and found statistically significant difference between top and bottom performers in several key areas. Compared with poorest performers, the best-performing quintile had 25 percent lower mortality, 19 percent fewer medical complications, and 13 percent few patient safety incidents – even thought their patients were sicker and their average hospital stays were significantly shorter.
“This speaks to the quality and dedication of the staff here at Shasta Regional and all Prime facilities. Dr. Reddy’s visions and focus on quality and efficient care benefits the community we all serve and everyone at Shasta Regional takes great pride in what has been accomplished since November.” said Randall Hempling, CEO of Shasta Regional Medical Center.
All U.S. health systems with two or more short-term, general, non-federal hospitals were assessed. Research looked at five metrics that gauges clinical quality and efficiency: mortality, medical complications, patient safety, average length of stay, and adherence to clinical standards of care (evidence-based core measures published by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services).
Researchers from the Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals program have analyzed and reported on the performance of individual hospitals since 1993. Today’s study marks the first time they have assessed the relative quality and efficiency of inpatient care by health systems as single entities. |
